Arctic Optic is a button-up hooded raincoat, featuring an op art lining by visual artist Studio Cosmogram. Its outer material is a technical recycled water-resistant gabardine in a luxuriously-sheeny black.

The coat's cut is a take on sophisticated utilitarianism. With its funnel neck buttoned up, it holds a subtle cocoon shape. Undone, it drapes and falls like a trench coat.

Arctic Optic's lining is based on a solargraph, a map of the sun's movement over the horizon of the Arctic archipelago, Svalbard. The graph was hand-painted in ink, then digitally layered with multiples of the graphs in different shades of grey, white, and blue. The layers were given different transparencies, creating an optical illusion of ice.

Made in London.

Fabric & Sustainability

Composition: Outer: 70% Seaqual & 30% recycled polyester. Lining: 100% recycled polyester.

The outer fabric is European-made, consisting of 70% Seaqual and 30% recycled polyester. Seaqull is a high-quality recycled polyester yarn containing recovered marine plastic (10%), with the remaining 90% being post-consumer rPET from land sources.

The coat's lining is rPET recycled polyester twill, sourced from 100% Global Recycled Standard (GRS)-accredited post-consumer plastic waste such as plastic bottles, diverted from landfill or reclaimed from the ocean. The inks used are also Oeko-Tex Class II-certified, meaning they are free of harmful chemicals and safe for skin-contact. The printing is done in London in a zero-to-landfill facility, using 100% renewable energy.

Despite its recycled origin, it should be noted polyester is a contributor to ocean microplastics - when washing your coat, we recommend using a Guppy Friend washing bag to capture the microparticles before they enter the water stream.

Production: Manufactured at a North London-based small-batch production studio. The pieces are made in studio by their talented seamstresses and cutters. It takes eight hours to cut and sew just one coat.

Packaging: Our products are shipped in 100% compostable mailers, which are both home and commercially compostable, once the shipping labels have been removed. Our soy-based ink stickers are also compostable.
